I don't know about you, but the internet can overwhelm me pretty much immediately. There's just so much out there, and I don't know where to look! So I look at everything and make zero decisions about anything.

So I like when things are organized. I also like trying new things. So I often found myself wishing that there was one place I could visit to see what kinds of classes were being offered at any given time here in the Rockaways. I did not find one, so Local Class Co was born!

It is a simple idea: help people find small, in-person classes and workshops happening right here in our neighborhood. Cooking, painting, writing, movement, quirky creative stuff—anything where you get out of your house, learn something, and meet people.

Each class is run by a local teacher or creative that loves not-commuting just as much as you do!

Local Class Co was started by the same person (me) behind Rockaway Art Room, which runs free community art classes in the Rockaways and pays teaching artists for their work. That’s been a big part of how this all started—meeting local teachers, seeing how many great classes are already happening, and wanting an easier way for people to find them!
